Although Biofloc systems does not require any kind of extensive training, but it does need some basic understanding and practical know how .

You should be careful while selecting the trainer.

Trainer in local market will offer one or two days of training, but in reality it is time consuming.
Until you practice Biofloc and understand know how to do it yourself you will not get the basis of the system usually 4-6 months, that how long it will take to harvest your first crop.

Here is few tips if you are looking for training in Biofloc

1-Try to find experienced farmer near you, or at least reachable limit from you Farm.
Check what fish he is doing.  Remember Magur is not Biofloc fish, you can harvest without Biofloc and only experts can do Rohu Katla Fish.
2-Check how many harvest he took so far and what fish seed he presently has in the tank. So that you will get idea on what seed you are going to be trained.
Check how many tanks he has , he should have commercial level farm if he is training
Check if he tries to sell you the setup items, in most of the cases he will get commission on every sell

3-Check in the market before making buying decision, You will get price if he not charging much commission from seller. You could also get the price advantage if you buy through other farm, as you might get advantage of volume purchase

4-How many days training will he provide? It needs only one day to cover theory and farm visit. Some farmers do takes up to 2 days, 1 day for theory and 1 day for farm visit. That’s OK. In either case you will only get to know the basis of Biofloc. Your real training will start with your own setup.

5-How much training will cost? Normally in India trainer are charging up to Rs. 4000 but only include 2 days of theory and farm visit. While considering Biofloc farm business you should include the cost of initial setup and failures in your training cost.

Best way to find trusted trainer is to contact the new farmer if you know any, ask for trainer advice. You can check local tarpaulin suppler for Biofloc tank and find the address of new farmer near you. New farms are the best source to find good trainer

Leave you city name and Whatspp number in comment box, I will forward you the contact detail of trainer nearby you.

8-What should you look in Biofloc Trainer?

  • Fist and foremost is the scale of the production, in other words how may tanks he has or how many KG is he harvesting?

  • Second most important thing to check is the bread of fish he is doing, again, Magur is not Biofloc fish.
  •
  • Last but not least, remember you will need on call help in your initial setup; your trainer should be able to attain your call and guide you through in case of emergency. In you first harvest you will get so many surprise and you need to consult expert on urgent basis
  • Important Note:

Remember initially your focus of the training should be starting and running your set up. Don’t think about profit. You should start with 1 or 2 tanks. If possible, 1 reserve tank for storing prepared water in case your Biofloc tank needs to maintain some necessary parameters, you can use well maintained water from reserved tank for quick result.

Your actual training will start when you start your own small setup and face day to day challenges. Avoid doing DIY in the beginning. Do not experiment on homemade Probiotics or molasses on your fist crop. You focus initially should be on learning.
